"The 2013 Crozes Hermitage is a sensational effort that offers tons of meaty, smoky, olive, bay leaf and currant-like aromas and flavors in a medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated, mouth-filling style. Not destemmed and aged 12 months in used barrels, drink this inky colored, seriously impressive Syrah anytime over the coming decade.
These are terrific 2013s from the father/son team of Alain and Maxime Graillot. Alain created the estate in 1985 and today it covers over 50 acres in Crozes Hermitage (this is the bulk of the production) and smaller parcels in Saint Joseph. Maxime has been in charge of the estate since 2008. In addition to these wines, Maxime also makes the Equis wines, which are also covered in this report. The winemaking here is staunchly traditional with no destemming and aging in older barrels. These are classic, old school wines worth checking out.."
